Simone Marinus was born in Middelburg in 1985. She attended the University of Pretoria's Departement of Fine Arts, graduating with a distinction in Studiowork in 2007. She worked as a professional photographer until the pandemic launched a national lockdown in March 2020. To keep herself preoccupied in the midst of the madness that was unfolding in the world she started to paint again.

2021 - Biennale National Portrait Awards top 100 in conjunction with Rust en Vrede Gallery, Portrait 100 group exhibition at the Rupert Museum.
2021 - Quiddity. A group exhibition at Daor Contemporary in Cape Town Port.
