Simone Marinus

South African Artist based in Somerset West, Cape Town

Simone Marinus is an artist and photographer; wife and mother.

She was born in Middelburg in 1985.  She attended the University of Pretoria's Department of Fine Arts, graduating with a distinction in Studiowork in 2007. From 2008 she focussed mainly on completing a second degree, this time in the field of Theology, while she worked as a professional photographer to support herself and her family. It was during the strict lockdown of 2020 that she picked up the paintbrushes with more intention.

Simone's work is strongly influenced by the application of layers. She explores themes of her own intricate human condition specifically searching for answers in her belief system, spirituality, experiences, culture, and subconsciousness.
